ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
Laura has practiced Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) for many years. Early training was with Albert Ellis in Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy and more recently in ACT. (See Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life by Steven C. Hayes, Ph.D.) ACT is a cognitive-behavior therapy which helps to identify and work with habits of thinking and behaving that prevent us from living our most valued life. ACT includes mindfulness and other practices that help to develop the ability to act and experience fully in the present.
"Life is a good teacher and a good friend. Things are always in transition, if we could only realize it. Nothing ever sums itself up in the way that we like to dream about. The off-center, in-between state is an ideal situation, a situation in which we don't get caught, and in which we can open our hearts and minds beyond limit."
